The Pastel Society of America’s 38th Annual Open Juried Exhibition for Pastels Only will be held September 7 – October 2, 2010 in the main gallery of The National Arts Club, a historic mansion located in the Gramercy Park area of Manhattan. May 28, 2010 is the postmarked deadline for slide or CD entries.
The prospectus is available at PSA website.
The word “Open” in the exhibit’s title means that any pastel artist, whether a PSA member or not, may apply. Take advantage of the opportunity to have your art exhibited with America’s finest pastel artists and displayed before a discerning audience of art professionals, collectors and an appreciative public in the center of New York’s art world. Accepted entries usually number 170 to 200 pastels out of more than 1,000 entries.
The top award in 2010 is the Jack Richeson Award of $5,000 given in memory of Flora B. Giffuni. The Art Spirit Foundation gives two prizes: the Dianne B. Bernhard Gold Medal Award of $3,000 and the Herman Margulies Award for Excellence, a prize of $1,500 in memory of that noted artist and teacher. This year will be the first time that the newly established Flora B. Giffuni Award of $1,000 will be awarded.
Cash awards of $1,000 are donated by The National Arts Club, The Pastel Journal, and members of the Giffuni family, whose support has been unwavering over the years. Total awards number more than 50 for a value of over $20,000.
