Streetpaint Festival: Zagreb Pastel 2010

Mario Vukelic

You didn’t get news from this blog lately, primarily because I was too busy organizing the streetpaint festival in my city. Since the street painters use soft pastel I consider streetpainting a part of the pastel world although not the main stream.

This was the second edition of the festival and we have had a huge publicity. The festival took place in the heart of city on a beautiful sunny day. The special section where kids could dirty their hands proved to be a big success as well. You can find photos and a short article about the whole event on the ZagrebPastel streetpaint festival site.

My pastel version of Cezanne

I made a pastel version of Paul Cezanne’s Still Life with Cherub after the realization that Cezanne didn’t really like the pastels. Or rather I love to believe he didn’t come across good set of pastels :).
Even the Cezanne’s painting that was explored in my older post ended up as being done in oil. Seeing so many of his work on the net I just couldn’t resist to try to reproduce one of his works. This is on Pastelmat, mainly with Unison and Rembrandt pastels, the size is 30×40 cm (12×18″). The photo of the original is from Wikipedia.
